Disavow The Pleasure

18 Apr

Before the techno set in…this was really pretty…and different.

Because we separate , like ripples on a blank shore. Reckoner -did I cater to all your needs?

It’s 71 degrees in NYC right now… and I want to flyyyy…or maybe ride a bike.

“You’ll Go To Hell For What You’re Dirty Mind Is Thinking…”

I usually don’t like remixes, especially of Radiohead’s songs, but stumbled across this one today….and love it..

Radiohead – Nude (holy f*ck remix)

Radiohead – Nude (Original)

You paint yourself white and fill up with noise…But there’ll be something missing. Now that you’ve found it…it’s gone. Now that you feel it…you don’t. You’ve gone off the rails. So don’t get any big ideas… they’re not going to happen…

This is one of my favorite songs off In Rainbows, and an earlier version of this song was called Big Ideas (Don’t Get Any) with these additional lyrics:

She stands stark naked and she beckons you to bed….Don’t go, you’ll only want to come back again

Part of my interpretation:

Succubus, James Jean (via Constant Siege)

Apparently there was a contest on iTunes for best remix of this song last year…Never heard anything about it.

Here were the top selections: http://radioheadremix.com/nude/ (Dublin mix is also good)

Right now there’s one going on for Reckoner: http://radioheadremix.com/

Cooooooool =P

Music Spotlight; Bats for Lashes Covers Kings Of Leon’s Use Somebody

11 Apr

I really like Kings of Leon, a lot but like a lot of artists — I’ll listen repeatedly for a period of time, and then move on. My Kings of Leon stage was several months ago…but today I heard Bat for Lashes cover of Use Somebody (one of my favorite tracks by KOL) and… nice! So nice it warranted another posting…

Her voice and the arrangement give the song/lyrics a whole new meaning hmm?

This was recorded on April 9th, inside the BBC Radio One Live Lounge…
Enjoy both versions…

Bat For Lashes – Use Somebody

You know that I could use somebody, Someone like you, and all you know and how you speak

Kings Of Leon – Use Somebody

Hi :)

I like to pop up here every now and then…completely at random and when I think I have something worthwhile to share. I started compiling this last night -on my typical Friday night of solitude but fell asleep (I am just way too wild these days) so continued this morning. Instead of annoying all my FB friends (and “friends”) by uploading all these videos to my feed, I thought it may be kinder to do it here then…just share this link ;) I am noticing that because I have headphones in (on?), and the music is blaring — my writing is sounding really choppy…forgive me.

I suggest you listen to the following with headphones as well…. I am in more of an indie/psychedelic/electronic rock mood lately as opposed to my usual trip hop/electronica… Might be because of stress levels, and the fact that this music helps me release and feel better… Who knows. I have a feeling 2009 will be a much better year for music than 2008…here’s a few tracks to back up that statement.

Empire Of The Sun

Empire of The Sun – We are the People

I can’t do well when I think you’re gonna leave me, but I know I try. Are you gonna leave me now? Can’t you be believing now?  I know everything about you. You know everything about me. Know everything about us…

Makes me want to dance around while crying remembering that awful feeling that comes with knowing the person you love with is letting go, and you can’t do anything to stop it. But…you try.

Empire of The Sun – Walking On A Dream

We are always running for the thrill of it. Always pushing up the hill searching for the thrill of it. On and on and on we are calling out and out again. Never looking down, I’m just in awe of what’s in front of me…

Their most popular single (as of now), but I do like We Are the People better.

EOTS is like an Australian MGMT. This has probably been said 92837 times before.

Local Natives

Local Natives – Airplanes

It sounds like we would have a great deal to say to each other. I bet when I leave my body for the sky, the wait will be worth it. I love it all, so much I call. I want you back…

This song definitely won me over by the end of it… I was iffy at first but… simple, sweet, nerdy, full of heart lyrics mixed with some kind of string instrument and… I’m sold =P I find these LA boys quite charming.

The Diggs

The Diggs – And In The End Shoot Back

She’s going to figure it out, before I do…Wake up...

I don’t even remember how I stumbled upon this Brooklyn band, and at first I was pretty ‘meh’ about them, but I have grown a fondness especially for this particular song.

This is a very self-indulgent addition. I solely like this song because it reminds me of a younger version of myself – a version I am glad is in the past, but one I love and adore all the same anyway. A few years ago I would have put this song on repeat, cried, and cried, and maybe posted some really dramatic blog on… [the horror] Myspace. Now, I want to listen, have a glass of wine, smile , and cheer to that sad insecure girl of the past…and tell her it’s going to be alright. Not perfect, but alright.

Animal Collective

Animal Collective – My Girls

There isn’t much that I feel I need. A solid soul and the blood I bleed. With a little girl, and by my spouse I only want a proper house…

Love this…and the video is very trippy; check it out:

I think this was a perfect song to end this post on. Hope you’ve enjoyed at least some of these…’Til next time!
