Breaking up with friends is not as messy and complicated as when you break up with a loved one. Sometimes–they may not realize you dumped them until they are sitting home alone thinking–”hmm, wow I haven’t heard from her in a long time now” or “why won’t she ever answer the phone when I call?”.
I have officially made the decision to end a friendship with a “friend” of mine recently. She may not realize right now but she will. It isn’t out of spite or anger–the decision I believe is a mature, right, and just one. She may be a good friend to others–but she is not a good friend to me, and that’s all that matters. In the old wise age of 24 (ha!) I have realized it is best to rid yourself of as much negativity as possible. Who needs to be stressed out over a fair weathered friend? Not me!
So I tip my hat (or would be; if I was wearing one) to all those who’ve had the courage to break free from a less than satisfying relationship –even if that is just a friendship.
